Thomas Joseph Gallo II passed away peacefully on May 29, 2019. Born on November 12, 1922 to Thomas Joseph and Rose Gallo of New York, NY, he graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1939 and obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree from New York University in 1948. He started his engineering career with Burroughs Wellcome in Paris and London. He joined the Army Corps of Engineers in the post-war rebuilding effort in Europe, returning stateside to manage family-owned Daniele Linen Supply, and then opening Pyramid Linen Supply in 1980. Mr. Gallo owned and operated his business until age 90.
He was a life member of the New York Athletic Club and a member of its social affiliate, the Huckleberry Indians. After raising his children, he and his wife Dolores wintered in Singer Island, Florida with a growing community of friends. Mr. Gallo made Jupiter, FL his home for the past 18 years. He enjoyed travel, fine wine, and won many prizes for his ballroom dancing.
He is survived by his brother, Rudolph Gallo and wife Gisele, of Paris, France; and his sister Joan Silveri and husband Americo of Gainesville,Virginia. He leaves his son Thomas J. Gallo III and wife Mia of Cambridge N.Y.; four daughters: Pia Gallo and husband Peter Van Wagner of N.Y.; Deborah Gallo and partner Helen Eliadis of San Diego, CA ; Lisette Schmitz and husband Robert of Mt. Airy, MD; Elyse Gallo and husband R. Craig Seeley of Portsmouth, NH; and son-in-law, Hamid Idrissi of N.Y. He will be missed by his ten grandchildren: Adrien, Nadine, Alessia and Arianna Gallo; Michael, Steven and Eric Schmitz; Annalisa Van Wagner; Heather and Colin Seeley, along with their families and five great-grandchildren. He is now joined for eternity with the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Dolores Daniele Gallo, and with his youngest daughter, Toni Marisa Gallo Idrissi, who only recently passed.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Paul of The Cross Church, Singer Island FL
on Saturday June 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
