Addie Ethel Morley passed away peacefully in hospital June 9, 2020, surrounded by family. The Matriarch of our family will be forever missed. We continue to celebrate Ethel and her passion for life. Her passing was sad but her longevity, honesty, and love for bowling will be what we remember most.
Thank you to all her family and friends for the support over the years. They say “It takes a village to raise a child.” Ethel raised a village.
Born in Ireland January 16th, 1920, she came to Canada as an infant. Raised in Winnipeg, is where she met her husband Walt. Married for 58 years, they were only separated while Walt served in Europe during WWII. In 1960, they escaped Winnipeg's winters and settled down in Vancouver where they raised their two daughters, Toni and Debbie. Later, Walt and Ethel enjoyed their growing family with the additions of their grandchildren, Amie, Cody, and Neal. Years after her husband's passing, Ethel became a proud Great Great Aunt to Katelyn and upon the arrival of her Great Grandson Walter, her name officially changed to GG. Into her 101st year, Ethel continued to live independently and bowled with her friends every week. No matter the title, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Great Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother GG, Sister, or Friend, Ethel was an absolute Legend and will be missed by many.
Ethel had a way of calling things as she saw it, and had no problems doing so. Leaving the last words to the Great Ethel Morley herself, this is something she wrote 5 years ago after suffering a small stroke.
“Ethel's gone, she is no more.
She left through the upper door.
Not the one that’s down below.
Although her friends thought that’s where she’d go!”
Rest In Peace Ethel.
