

Agnes Nikkel, 82, passed away on August 23, 2025 at the Creekstone Care Center in North Vancouver.
Agnes was born in Altona, Manitoba on May 22, 1943 and lived in St. Joseph until she moved to Winnipeg in 1961.
She worked at the Winnipeg Misericordia Hospital. In 1964, she met Norman Nikkel and they were married in Winnipeg on September 11, 1965.
In February, 1968, Agnes and Norman moved to North Vancouver where Agnes began work at Lions Gate Hospital.
In 1970, their first son, Richard was born, followed by Bryan in 1972 and Robert in 1978.
Agnes was a wonderful, amazing and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was devoted to her family and friends. She loved line dancing, concerts, playing cards, crafts(greeting cards and jewelry), fitness classes and Sudoku.
She loved going for walks with Norman. She was always healthy physically. She enjoyed visits with family and friends in Manitoba and for 10 years in Mesa, Arizona in winter, enjoying friends, line dancing, and bike rides. She was a good cook and seamstress, was meticulous with her dress and was a proud person.
In her last 12 years, she dealt with dementia and alzheimer's and spent her last 4 years at Creekstone Care Center where a wonderful and caring staff looked after her. In spite of this ugly disease, she was always cheerful and smiling.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Adonias, 88 and Leona, 87 and by siblings Ginette, 14, Wilfrid 60 Laurent, 59, Raymonde, 75, Lucille, 90, Sylvio, 86, Jean-Guy 82, Rose-Marie, 81,Marcel 95 and Louise, 92.
Agnes is survived by her husband Norm, 84 and her sons, Richard, 54, Bryan 53 and Robert 47(married to Laura) with grandchildren Cohen, Avery and Blake and her siblings Maurice 79, Andy 78, Jacqueline 76 and Alfred 74.
Agnes will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life is being arranged.
