Proud dad to Chris, Ken, Carol and Catherine, and caring grandpa to Christopher, Philip, Laura, Ella, Vanessa, Joffrey, Alexander, Isiah and Sydney.
Alan was compassionate and community-oriented; he especially connected to young children,
the elderly, newcomers and the lonely.
His heart was large. His laughter was infectious. His puns were terrible.
He loved music and singing and dancing.
He valued family meals and games, jokes and camping, sports and friendship.
He delighted in teaching how to tie shoelaces and count, how to make pancakes and skate.
But, most of all, he taught us to love.
A kind person, he forgave more than most, comforted when needed and brought joy to many.
His hands were large and warm and safe.
We love you. We miss you already.
