Our much loved mother and grandmother, Alice Nixon, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 at the age of 91 in Vancouver, BC. Her presence will be greatly missed by daughters Linda and Jackie, and grandson Liam (Emily). Alice is also survived by family in Scotland and in Ontario.
Mom had a light and joyful spirit. She was loving, dedicated and devoted to the happiness and support of her children and her grandson. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Stephen, and our father, John.
Mom loved to spend her time reading and found great enjoyment and much happiness in her visits to just about every Vancouver Public Library location. We thank library staff who supported her with book recommendations and later audio books as her sight diminished. Alice was so happy and content when she read or listened to a great book.
We feel much appreciation and give thanks to the staff who cared for and cared about Alice in her last years living at Yaletown House. She required special care in her last years and it was provided by some very special people there.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a gift by cheque payable to Yaletown House Society noting it is for the staff fund or, if you require a tax receipt, to registered charities VPL Foundation, Yaletown House Foundation or charity of your choice in Alice's memory.
Family, friends and others who knew Alice will gather at the Boal Chapel in North Vancouver at 10:00 am on December 11 to say our farewell.
