Annette Lillie — known to everyone who loved her simply as Annette — was a woman of strength, elegance, humour, and unstoppable energy. We honor her remarkable life, her courage, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.
Annette was born, in Aldridge, England, to James and Dora Stokes. She was the eldest of three, with a younger brother, Richard, and sister, Valerie. The family had also experienced the early loss of their first child, Jane, a loss that shaped the deep bonds and resilience within the family. Survived by her Husband Hugh Lillie and Daughters Elaine Saint & Dale Graham, Karen & Stephen Williams and Tamara & Lou Silveri. Grandchildren Dylan, Gabrielle, Enzo ,Lucia and Luca
From a very young age, Annette learned the value of hard work. She grew up helping in the family business of house and furnace building — a legacy that still stands today in the many homes built across the Midlands. She inherited a strong work ethic, independence, and determination.
She loved school and reading Shakespeare and poetry. A gifted athlete, she had a shot at the British National Hurdles team, mastering hurdles — a skill that reflected how she lived her life, always moving forward and over obstacles.
Annette cultivated a love of sports and music from her father and began her career in decorating and sales. She was never still, always stylish, always helping others, always fashionably late — and always stunning.
Annette came Canada to build a new life for her family. After years apart, Elaine and Karen reunited with her in Vancouver — a joyful chapter.
Annette continued her decorating career at Eaton’s, Sears forming lifelong friendships. She later met Hugh Lillie, and they married in 1991. Together they built a life filled with love, travel, and family.
In 1999, she purchased Expedia Cruises, building a successful business and lifelong relationships. Travel remained her passion until the end.
Annette ran her race with grace, cleared every hurdle placed before her, and left behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy.
She will be deeply missed — and forever remembered.
