Audrey Ann Ratcliffe of West Vancouver, B.C passed away peacefully on November, 13th 2022 in the Inglewood Care Centre. She was predeceased by her father Hollis Wheeler, her mother Helen Fleming, her brother Robert Wheeler and her husband Norman Ratcliffe. Audrey is survived by her daughter Hollie of Richmond, her son John of North Vancouver and her sister Donna (Don) of West Vancouver.
She was born the middle child of three in Cranbrook, B.C at the St. Eugene Hospital on December 19th, 1931.
After graduating from high school in Cranbrook, Audrey went to normal school in Victoria where she trained to be an elementary school teacher. She received her teacher’s diploma on June 11th, 1951 and was a teacher for 20 years.
Audrey met her husband Norman Ratcliffe of Kimberley when she was in high school. She married him in Cranbrook on December 28th, 1954. They were married for 60 years until he passed away in 2015.
Audrey resided with her family in North Vancouver, Kitimat, Prince George and finally West Vancouver. She enjoyed many interests with her family and friends including skiing at Whistler, tennis, swimming, aerobics and the family cabin in the East Kootenays. She also enjoyed travelling and entertaining with her friends. Audrey will be remembered for her sense of humour, her great fashion sense, her vitality and energy and her dedication to her family.
A family celebration of her life will be held with close family and friends next summer at Moyie Lake in the East Kootenays.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and/or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
