after a short battle with cancer.
Born to Robert and Roberta Meredith on February 8, 1964 in New Westminster, he graduated from
Centennial High School in 1982 and later attended SFU’s Professional Development Program. Receiving a
Masters of Education, Brett became a secondary English teacher in Burnaby for 17 years. He taught at
Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby North and for the last five years, loved teaching at Alpha Secondary with his
faithful dog Sally by his side. Sponsoring a wide variety of student and school initiatives, Brett co chaired
the grad council and was actively engaged in the culture of the school. He always found ways to reach out
to students by actively participating in the intramural program, after school basketball league and
sponsoring the badminton teams. He was relentless in his pursuit to give back to the Alpha community in
every aspect possible with the motivation of helping students.
Beloved husband of Angie for 27 years and devoted father to Liam, the family travelled extensively and
settled in East Vancouver. Brett had an appreciation and an appetite for life and faced all challenges
undaunted. His abundant generosity and absolute willingness to help others distinguished him in the heart
of students, family and friends. Brett’s loyalty, laughter and love of music will endure forever in our
memories.
Brett is survived by his wife Angie; son Liam; his parents Robert and Roberta Meredith; sister Leslie (Tom);
brother Scott (Debbie); sister-in-laws, Toni (Don) and Franca (Joe) and nieces and nephews, Christina,
Rebecca, Eric, Alan, Megan, Marina, Samuel and Jacob. He also leaves behind many precious friends.
