It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of Carol Ethel McKinney, 57 on September 9, 2021 in West Vancouver. The cause of death is still unknown but it took her peacefully in her sleep. Carol was a powerful personality who embodied grace and was gifted with a burning intelligence. She loved to talk politics like her dad and was a world traveller. In her years serving the federal government she was posted to several countries and in each one quickly adopted the local culture and gathered new friends. She was a fashionista and loved getting dressed up and going to dinner or an event. Carol was a collector of art and an avid reader.
With her diplomatic career winding down, Carol was about to begin a new chapter in Ghana and was opening a business there in the weeks before her untimely passing. The burden of her loss is shared by a global village who looked to her for her strength, humour and mentorship.
She leaves to mourn her son Jason McKinney, grandchildren Hayden and Brooklynn McKinney, sisters Kate McKinney and Darius Matheson, brother Ken McKinney, nieces Alexa Matheson and Lisa McKinney, nephews Kyle Matheson, Cole Matheson, Graydon Matheson, George McKinney and so many, many friends who were family to her and of course her Prince cat, Messi. Carol was pre deceased by her parents, George and Ethel McKinney, brother, James and her beloved husband, Jukka Kuntsi, may they be reunited in eternal peace and love. RIP my Beauty.
