Chantelle Iacobellis February 15, 1991 - June 1st 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chantelle Iacobellis, graduate of Capilano University & Royal Conservatory of Music, Piano Grade 10. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, musician, volunteer, student and friend. Her youth was spent in the arms of her family and she found joy in her music, her friendships, and on the soccer field. In young adulthood she struggled bravely with OCD and Depression: after 10 years she chose to set her spirit free from her illness. We love and forgive her and will hold her in our hearts forever. A celebration of her life will be held at 1pm, Saturday June 16th at North Shore Alliance Church, 201 23rd Street E, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to North Shore Neighborhood House would be welcome. Below is a short video of Chantelle please feel free to view.

Dear Laura, Joe and Laurren,

It is with a very heavy heart that I write to you. I was so so saddened when hearing of Chantelle.

My memories of your beautiful girl are of those when she was very young and we first moved to Layton... growing up on the same street and my sister and her becoming little buddies.

Chantelle’s love of piano and her diligence with practice stands out to me. She was kind and polite and sweet.

As you journey through this incredibly tough time, please know that it’s all okay; okay to feel that rainbow of emotions.

May your Chantelle be free. May her heart and mind and thoughts be free. Free from the pain and suffering that she so bravely endured.

Dear Iacobellis family,

While words offer little comfort now, please know that you are in my thoughts. My heart goes out to all of you.

I will always remember Chantelle as the beautiful, gentle spirit who brought compassion, happiness, and love to all who had the honour to have met her. I believe she has found peace and is smiling down on all of us.

Dear Iacobellis family,
I can't imagine the pain you are experiencing through this tragic time, I am so sorry for that. Over the years Chantelle and I shared some fun memories, she was a wonderful friend. Here's a few:
Chantelle’s compassionate spirit was so uplifting, she would always offer praise for the tiniest achievements. We took one class together at Cap, music history… I was not the best at it but it was fun studying with Chantelle every week, sitting in the library trying to pick out what instruments were in what songs, she was so patient trying to help me figure it out and would have little celebrations when I finally got it. A few years ago when she was studying in a different program at Cap, she learned some really helpful gym techniques and passed them along, I can remember so vividly how enthusiastic she was when I did a squat the right way, she’d clap and say “Wooohooo you did it!” it was almost funny but it was such a genuine supportive "Woohoo" it just made me feel good. My favourite memory with Chantelle though, is from about three years ago, when I lived on 18th, Chantelle would occasionally pop by for tea if she was nearby. One day we decided to whip out the guitar and sing Elton John’s “Your Song”. I have never been one to know how to harmonize, so I took the easy notes and Chantelle began harmonizing like nothing I've ever heard before. Her voice was flawless and pure like an angel, I felt very lucky to have such a talented friend singing in my kitchen. I wish with my whole heart that she is at peace now, I really miss her.

Although we grew up in the same neighborhood, it was few words we got to speak
But now more I wish we could, preserving time like an old antique
But in the past couple years we met again, at a random event downtown with your sister Laurren
And since that day I got to know you better
From laughs at my 30th birthday party and Deep Cove adventures, we had a laugh or two together
You were intelligent, brave, with such a passion for music
You were compassionate and strong in a world so tough, surely melodies for you were therapeutic
My Aquarian friend you are gone so soon
I wish there was one more hangout with use three
But you my love, I know for sure, your soul is soaring free
Over the clouds you go...
My memories of you will never fall apart
And one thing I hope you know, I hold you close to my heart.

To Laurren, Laura and Joe, sending my deepest condolences to you and your family. Chantelle was a beautiful human being who left such an impression on me and I am heartbroken to see her go. Even though it was for a short time, re-connecting with Chantelle in our adult years was such a gift. I am thinking of you during this difficult time.

Sending you so much love and light,

Chantelle and I were never very close, but I am stunned by this news and offer my sincerest condolences to the family. I had the pleasure of knowing Chantelle throughout my time in high school, specifically in the music program and my last musical, "Oklahoma!". She always brought joy and light to the room she was in and I'm truly saddened and affected by her passing. I send lots of love to her family.

Dear Laura, Joe, Lauren, Grandma Norma, Auntie Donna, Uncle Graham and family,

I have been heartbroken since hearing about Chantelle. Words just don't seem enough to express my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Chantelle was a lovely young lady. I will cherish my memory of her singing so beautifully at Grandma Norma's 80th birthday ..."His Eye is On the Sparrow". I believe Chantelle is your family's little sparrow singing in a wonderful place now free from pain and full of love and peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
