Diana Coulter, born on January 6, 1938, in Burnaby, B.C., passed away peacefully on the evening of July 15th at North Shore Hospice, surrounded by family.
The youngest of five siblings, Diana remained close to her siblings throughout her life and maintained cherished relationships with her many nieces and nephews, staying in regular contact with many of them over the years. They were an important part of her life—as she was in theirs.
In her twenties, Diana set off on a six-month journey through Europe with two close friends. At a time when such adventures were rare for young women, it was a bold and formative experience that reflected her quiet sense of adventure.
Diana nurtured her friendships across the decades, staying closely connected with many dear friends.
She was an avid gardener, and over 56 years in the same home, she transformed her backyard into a place of lasting beauty and care. A talented and avid sewer, Diana created everything from clothing for herself and her children to handmade touches around the home. She later delighted in sewing clothing, Halloween costumes and nighties for her granddaughters.
Diana was predeceased by her husband Howard in April of 2011. She is survived by her son Ken and his wife Wendy, her daughter Leanne and husband Shane, and her two adored granddaughters, Ellie and Cara, who brought her immense joy and to whom she always expressed immense pride.
Diana will be remembered for her quiet strength, integrity, gentle humour, and the unwavering love she gave to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed.
