Dianne(Garry Speranza). Grandchildren: Sarah, Daniel, Courtney, Mallory, Landen and Tessa.
Great grandchildren: Owyn, Soleil and Connor. Also by her many loving friends that visited her
so often, and many caring workers from Cedar Gardens and Evergreen House.
Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she helped her dad in the market gardening
business. She paddled at the Kildonan Canoe Club where she met her late husband Hal Ford.
They had three children together and settled in North Vancouver. They were long time members
of the Capilano and North Shore Winter Clubs where Dot played tennis and was part of a few
District Champion curling teams.
For a time Whistler was her second home where she learned to ski at 50 yrs old.
Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and being with people. She spent
time socializing at Seniors centers and the old William Griffin Pool where she was part of the
‘Aquachats’ aqua fitness group. Dot loved to sing and was a part of the Mount Olivet Church
choir for a number of years.
For twenty years Dot lived in her daughter’s family home watching 2 of her grandchildren grow
up. She spent many hours on her patio in the sun.
Her last few years she lived at Cedar Gardens Assisted Living, then finally at Evergreen House
1 South for the last couple of months.
Dot always talked about the amazing love and care she received from all her care workers,
nurses and doctors. The family will be forever grateful for her friends, and care staff that walked
with her, showing kindness and love throughout and until the end of her life.
Over the last few weeks she talked about going to rest with God. We trust that she is there
now.
