Dorothy passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital after a short illness. Her son Greg by her side, holding her hand.
Preceded by her husband Gordon, she will be dearly missed by her loving family, son Greg (Jane), stepdaughter Margaret (Andy), stepson Michael, granddaughters Lauren, Victoria, Kaelah. She is survived by her sisters, Helen (Dan), Evelyn, Joyce, Heather, and brothers, Doug (Joan), Jim (Linda). Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, many dear friends, and loyal neighbours including her youngest neighbours who she affectionately called, her “cookie monsters”.
Dorothy was a Trailblazer for women’s equality and had a very successful career in financial planning, despite working in a man’s world.
Nothing ever stopped Dorothy from achieving her goals. Affectionately named by her husband as the “White tornado”, she was adventurous about learning new things and had a curiosity to travel the world, experience different cultures, and loved trying new foods.
Her happy place was the garden, and her sanctuary was the greenhouse Gordon had built her. She spent hours doing cuttings, transplanting, and learning about the art of bonsai. Of course, she joined the bonsai club.
Dorothy was passionate about her many hobbies including baking cookies, quilting, knitting dolls for charity, floral arts, and notably efficient at wine and beer making. Cheers!
She shared her home, for a drop in or a stay, her front door was always open. Ok, there may have been a note at the front door
“In the garden, please go around the back”.
Dorothy was a vibrant woman with an incredibly positive life attitude and never let her physical setbacks get her down.
Rest in Peace in the garden of Heaven, where the sun is forever warm and the flowers never wither.
