

With love and deep sadness, we share the peaceful passing of Douglas Lowell Phillips on August 14, 2026 at the age of 76. Doug died at Evergreen House Facility at 3:55am, Friday. He was born and raised at North Vancouver, BC with his loving parents Lowell Elsworth Phillips and Berna Evelyn Backstock.
Doug married with his wonderful wife, Emmie, in the Philippines on December 22, 1999 with the blessings of Emmie’s mother, Paulina Lasaca Malabao and his father, Jose Menorca Malabao.
Doug will be remembered as a kind and loving man, well-liked by most people around him especially by his boss or supervisor, as well as his co-workers. He once partnered with Hussein Gulchin as a co-owner of Odyssey Video previously located at 3rd street, West, North Vancouver, BC quite some time ago.
He loved listening Jazz and blues music, collected several music artist albums, including Elvis Presley’s and Mick Jagger’s. As a husband, Doug loved going out with his wife, Emmie, watching movie and visiting their selected food chain or restaurant during their spare times.
Doug pre-deceased by his parents and survived by his wife; his siter, Judy; brother, Ron; his favorite niece, Amanda and Amanda’s husband, Mitchell Jense; his two nephews, Dillion and Jordan; the last but not the least, his gorgeous and beautiful grandchildren from his sister Judy. From Amanda’s – Sarah, Linzi, Zoey and Chase; Dillion’s – Lilly; Jordan’s – Haylee, Zayleen, Niveah, Isabelle, Emerson, Chevy and Aurora.
A viewing of this remains (body) will be held on Friday August 21st, 2-3pm at Boal Chapel, 1505 lillooet road, North Vancouver. It will be solemnly attended by selected people only, as a choice of his wife, to give respect to the deceased.
A small get together with friends will be held on Sunday August 23, 2026 at 1551 (Capilano House, Amenity Hall) Bridgman Ave, North Vancouver, BC.
