Elizabeth Markarian Marashlian was born in Amman, Jordan, on November 28, 1966. She grew up in the Middle East surrounded by her family, her Armenian heritage, and a deep connection to faith and tradition. In 1989, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada, where she began a new chapter of her life.
Elizabeth married Murad Marashlian, and together they were blessed with two children, Patrick and Melissa. Above all else, Elizabeth was a devoted mother. Her children were the centre of her world, and she dedicated her life to loving, caring for, and supporting them. Her devotion was steady, selfless, and unwavering.
Elizabeth had a thoughtful spirit. She loved her family deeply and held her faith in God close throughout her life. She found comfort in prayer and in the bonds she shared with those closest to her. She shared a deep and cherished bond with her sisters, built on a lifetime of love, laughter, support, and shared memories.
She also had a great love for reading and collecting. Elizabeth enjoyed following the Royal Family, as well as King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan. She treasured books, magazines, and videos, and found joy in learning, remembering, and preserving the stories and people that interested her. Her collections reflected her curiosity, her sentimental nature, and her appreciation for history and family legacy.
Those who knew Elizabeth will remember her for her strength, her kindness, her faith, and the deep love she had for her children and family. She lived a life rooted in devotion to God, to her loved ones, and to the people who depended on her most.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Murad Marashlian; her children, Patrick and Melissa Marashlian; her brothers Norig Markarian, Harout Markarian, and Joe Markarian; her sister Marina Lessoway and brother-in-law Dale Lessoway; her sisters-in-law Hiam Markarian, Eva Markarian, and Razan Markarian; and her nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Agazarian, Gregory Markarian, Christian Markarian, Greagorey Markarian, Ani Markarian, Ara Markarian, Jordani Markarian, and many extended family members and friends.
Her memory will live on through her children, her family, and all those who were touched by her love, faith, and devotion.
