It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bettie Smith (née Visinski), a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and extraordinary soul, who left us peacefully in the presence of family at Evergreen House on Sunday, June 1st, at the age of 69.
Bettie was a loving wife to Ronald, a dedicated mother to Kelly (Matthew), and a proud new grandmother to Maeve. She was a woman of immense talent and strength, a gifted artist and gardener, she brought her creativity to every aspect of her life. Her garden was her sanctuary, where flowers bloomed and life thrived. Each season told a story of her care and creativity.
She was as generous as she was talented, always ready to give a helping hand. Her love of gardening, art, adventure, and family filled her days with purpose and her home with warmth.
Bettie was predeceased by her parents, Frank Visinski and Frances Visinski (née Shalla); her beloved older sisters Rose (Allen) Riddell and Joan (Brian) Thompson-Skinner; and brother, Jackie Visinski.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Smith; daughter, Kelly (Matthew) Smith; granddaughter, Maeve Janzen; and siblings: Shirley (Arnold) Whalen, James (Ruth) Visinski, Jeanette (Paul) Rogers, Leonard (Debbie) Visinski, Theresa Visinski, and Robert Visinski (Val Guest), all of whom will forever cherish her memory.
A celebration of life will be held by the family in her garden at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made to Evergreen House.
