Gone from our sight but never from our hearts
(February 19, 1924 – November 15, 2023)
Flo passed away on November 15, 2023 surrounded by the love of family members warmly cared for. She was born and raised in North Vancouver, B.C. and she spent most of her life in this city. She attended North Vancouver High School where she met lifelong friends and were she excelled in her favourite sport – Grass hockey. She was a devoted mother, a fun step grandmother, an avid gardener, a sewer, a reader, and a swimmer. Flo loved fashion and always looked colour coordinated from head to toe.
Flo enjoyed her weekly family dinners, summer trips to a family cabin, the many family trips to Palm Springs and her once in a lifetime adventure to Asia. She loved her swimming sessions at Ambleside Beach with her daughter Janice Woodside (Jan). Flo waited eagerly for Rand’s daily call when they discussed their adventures of the day. She was a positive woman with a light approach to life and a good sense of humour, someone who knew how to enjoy life and who never let bad news change her upside spirit.
She was loved by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Florence is survived by her son Randal who made up the entirety of her world, daughter-in-law Pilar Buse, son-in-law Duane Woodside (Woody), step grandchildren Walter Buse (Camila Abud Bozzo) and Alejandro Buse (Sophia Martins), step great grandchildren Rafael and Matias Buse, her sister Edie Barker (Price), her niece Denise Barker and family, her nephew Craig Barker and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Weaver, and loving daughter Janice.
As Flo wished, a private, ‘Celebration of life’ will be held at a later date.
In-lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the charity of your choice in Flo’s memory.
