With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Pierson McPhee, who left this world peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 93.
Gary is lovingly survived by his wife of 33 years, Eva McPhee, whose unwavering companionship was his joy and strength. He'll be dearly missed by his children Dan (Jean), Bev (Bob), and Mike, and remembered with fondness by his grandchildren: Chad, Shae, Julia, Ali, Travis; Rian, Joel, Ashley, Heather, Dane; and Amanda, and his greatgrandchildren: Ara, Jaime, Kensie, Kofi, Lucy, Jack; Rae, Harper, and Nyah.
He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Kitch Elton (Valda), Winston Elton (Lora), Brent Elton (Lorraine), and Carol Cahoun, whose bonds with Gary endured throughout his long and active life. In his younger years, Gary found joy and purpose as a tour bus driver in the Rocky Mountains—an experience that allowed his natural flair as an entertainer to shine. Behind the wheel with a live mic, he delighted in connecting with people, often turning a routine ride into an unforgettable memory. Gary's signature gift was this ability to bring laughter and warmth into every room. His humour was never selfserving,
but born of a rare and selfless generosity of spirit—a spirit that deeply touched all who knew him.
Professionally, Gary's talents led him from roles at Pitney Bowes and National Cash Register to becoming a true pioneer in Point of Sales systems. As founder/ cofounder of DTS Sales, Far West, and Mountain Systems Corp., Gary built not only innovative businesses but a vast network of respected colleagues and
lifelong friends. He was as proud of those friendships as he was of any achievement.
Gary had a love of the simple pleasures: clean cars, smooth jazz, pumpkin pie, and a perfectly organized workshop (we know you took the hammer, Mike). A peacemaker by nature and a hero in the eyes of many, Gary leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and quiet strength.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date (to be determined), where we'll gather to share stories, laughter, and the enduring spirit of the man we were all so lucky to know.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Gary's honour to a charity of your choice—a gesture that would surely make him smile.
Rest easy, Gary. You showed us the beauty of a generous life well lived.
