George Clifford Barrett

If you knew Cliff Barrett you were lucky; you knew his charm, his quick smile and laughter and the twinkle in his eye. He will be missed, especially by his partner in crime for the last 35 years Linda Archer and his beloved dog Dexter (aka Princess). When you think of him not with a tear in your eye but with a smile and laughter as he would wish.

He fell in love with Vancouver, returned to his home state Colorado and started immigration proceedings, moved here after 2 years and officially became a proud Canadian citizen 5 years later. He never lost his love of his beloved Denver Broncos, Colorada Rockies and Colorado Buffalos and fondly recalled his own sports activities which included playing football, baseball, basketball, golf, tennis and table tennis.

He came from a loving and supportive family, the youngest of 4 children. His career included commercial banking, marketing, small business owner and eventually when he moved to Canada a passionate professor at Kwantlen University College where he was rated highly by his students. A highlight for him was teaching in China through Capilano University.

They travelled extensively and had many adventures across the globe including spending time escaping the winter rain as avid golfers and entertaining friends constantly. With his Parkinsons progressing they decided to remain closer to medical resources. He passed away in Lions Gate Hospice on July 30th with Linda by his side at the age of 87 having truly had a life well lived.

We owe thanks to the various medical professionals who helped him deal with the many challenges he faced and to Lions Gate Hospital. The disease may have slowly robbed him of many things but never his love of life. In his memory donations to the Parkinsons Society of British Columbia are appreciated to continue research towards treatment and hopefully a cure.
