With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather George Deonesios Kokonis. George did not go willingly, rather he fought death every step of the way, always maintaining hope as was his nature.
George was born in Toronto on July 1, 1936, and passed away after a lengthy illness on April 16, 2019.
George graduated from Queens University Engineering School (Sc. ’61) and was the Founder of a successful Engineering Contracting Firm, West Bridge Corp which he ran with his sons for 40 years.
He was a true gentleman, the kindest of souls, whose many gifts included making absolutely everyone feel valued and welcome. He lit up any room with his easy charm, quick wit, laughter and stories. He will be missed by all, but his stories and legacy will forever live on. “Life must be lived and curiosity kept alive, one must never for whatever reason turn his back on life” – Eleanor Roosevelt.
Predeceased by his daughters Tracey and Teresa, George, leaves behind his loving wife Mary, his three children; Brent, Jeff, and Scott Kokonis, his sister Helen Scott, and his two grandchildren; Jordan and Colby Kokonis.
George will be sadly missed by all who knew him or were touched by his personality, along with his caring and loving ways.
