On July 11, 2017 Janice Karen Woodside passed away after a long struggle with cancer (s). She is survived by her best friend of 48 years, Duane (Woody), her mother Florence Weaver, brother Rand Weaver (Pilar Buse), Walter Buse, Alejandro Buse, and close friends Andy Powell-Williams and Del Whelan.
Janice retired as an educator after 35 years with the Vancouver School Board. She was an art teacher at George Wier Elementary School and a secondary school counsellor at John Oliver and David Thompson Secondary Schools.
Janice was known for her positive and upbeat outlook on life. She always looked at a glass as being half full not half empty. Her 28 year battle with cancer did not slow her down. She loved to travel with Woody. Painting, reading and gardening were a big part of her life. Most of all, she loved being with her friends where the laughter and camraderie would abound.
A celebration of Jan’s Life will be held at Van Dusen Gardens: Floral Hall on Sunday August 20 from 11:30 – 1:30.
In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice can be made.
