With loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Karen McClure, who left us peacefully at the age of 82 on June 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 21, 1942, in Vancouver, Karen lived a full and vibrant life, defined by love, laughter, and connection. A proud graduate of Kitsilano High School, she never missed a reunion and cherished the lifelong friendships she maintained with her classmates. Those gatherings were among her favorite events—full of reminiscing, laughter, and joyful memories.
An enthusiastic sports fan, Karen lit up whenever a game was on—especially when her beloved BC Lions took the field. Whether watching from home or cheering from the stands, she was a loyal and enthusiastic supporter, often donning the team’s colors and never missing a chance to discuss the latest scores.
Her love for sunshine and warmth led her to travel often to sunny destinations, where she found joy and relaxation in the sun's embrace. Whether it was a tropical beach or a quiet warm-weather escape, she treasured those trips, and the happy memories made there.
Karen is now reunited with her husband, Neil, partner Vic, son Todd and nephew Justin who passed before her and whom she carried in her heart always.
Karen leaves behind her son and daughter in law, Greg and Kyla, daughter in law Silke, grandchildren Brandon, Tanner, Katarina and Sophie, sister Wendy, nephews Corbin and Morgan and niece Alanna.
She also leaves behind many cherished friends, including her high school classmates, reunion companions, travel friends, the Norgate group and fellow BC Lions fans, all of whom brought joy and laughter to her life.
We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Vancouver General Hospital for your kindness and care. Thank you for treating her with the dignity she deserved. Also, to the many staff at the Villa Carital, our deepest gratitude to you for the wonderful care you provided Karen during her time with you. Knowing that she was in such capable, compassionate hands gave our family great peace of mind.
A celebration of her life will take place on July 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Holiday Inn in North Vancouver. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering Karen whose spirit remains in our hearts.
