With great sadness, the family announces that Karl passed away suddenly on July 8, 2018 at the age of 65 years. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Julia, son Alexander, ex-wife Jane, sister Karin (Bill), niece Kelsey and nephew Evan. Karl attended the University of British Columbia, graduating with a BA in 1975. He went on to study law at UBC, and was admitted to the BC Bar in 1980. Karl began his law career with the Justice Department, but after a short time started his own practice, sharing an office with his father. In 1992, he went into partnership with Kim Roberts, forming Roberts & Stahl, a partnership that continued for 20 years. In 2013, Karl established his own practice Stahl & Company. Karl was known for his love of jazz, serving on the board of directors of the Coastal Jazz & Blues Society for 22 years. Karl enjoyed gardening and cooking, but art and music were his true passions. His knowledge of both was infinite and he loved to generously share that knowledge with others.
