Gil was born and raised in Lynn Valley and lived his whole life in North Vancouver, BC

He was predeceased by his wife Winifred, his parents Whyte and Flora(Munro) and older brother Don

Worked construction on bridges in Northern BC and the Vancouver International Airport. He got his welding ticket and became a Longshoreman.

Starting at Vancouver Wharves, then Neptune Terminals and finally Lynnterm where he retired from in 1997

Survived by sons Colin and Chris and their families and his sister Betty
