Lila Flores Huarcaya

March 10, 1957 – July 14, 2026

Lila was born in Peru and spent her childhood and adolescent years in her beloved hometown of Abancay, Apurímac. She was the fourth of eight siblings and grew up surrounded by the beauty of the countryside, enjoying the gifts of the land, playing with farm animals, and cherishing the wonders of nature that brought her so much joy.

Later, Lila moved to Lima, where she completed her secondary education, discovered her calling, and studied nursing. Caring for others was always her passion. She dedicated herself to learning, growing, and putting her knowledge and experience at the service of those who needed her.

Years later, Lila followed her dreams and moved to Vancouver, where she found great happiness. The mountains, landscapes, and natural beauty of Vancouver reminded her of her beloved hometown of Abancay and the beauty of nature she had always cherished. She continued her studies and prepared herself to serve her new community, building a meaningful career with Vancouver Coastal Health and Sunrise Senior Living in North Vancouver, where she worked for more than 20 years.

Beyond her profession, Lila always found a way to give love, kindness, and compassion to every person she cared for. Her dedication touched many lives, and she will be cherished for the warmth, kindness, and generosity she shared with others.

She will be deeply missed by Claudia, Camila, and Felipe, her family in Vancouver, who shared the last four years of her life with her; Jean and Joe Hussey and their family; her siblings Matías, Uber, Wilton, Aldo, Magui, Rosa, and Balvi; her nieces and nephews Daniela, Aldo, Maricielo, Silvana, Sandro, Geraldine, Fernando, and Eduardo; her great-nephews Jorgito and Loam; her brothers-in-law Porfirio and Luis; her sisters-in-law María, Teresa, Jenny, and Mariela; and all her friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

We will always remember Lila with a smile. Her name carries a beautiful meaning: in Spanish, Lila is the name of a flower, and Flores means flowers. A name that reflects the beauty of a flower — and for us, Lila will always be that precious flower whose light continues to brighten our lives. Her memory will forever bloom in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on August 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish.
