Malcolm will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Barbara, his children Alan, Nancy (Kenn) and Bruce (Diane), his granddaughter Sarah, his sister and brother in law Shirley & Don Fraser, their children Gary (Kathy), Keith and Judi and their families, and many extended family and friends in BC and Ontario.
Malcolm was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. and graduated from McGee High School. He got his degree in B.Sci at UBC and then went to Normal School to become a teacher. His first teaching position was in Arrowhead, B.C. then Revelstoke and Cranbrook. Malcolm married Barbara in 1958 and they moved to North Vancouver in 1959 where they raised their family. He then went on to get his M.Ed at Western Washington.
Malcolm was a long time teacher on the North Shore, first at Balmoral and then for many years at Windsor Secondary School as a counselor and math teacher until his retirement in 1988.
His hobbies included genealogy, photography, bridge and reading books (mostly about unusual subjects), but he was happiest spending time at the family cabin on Keats Island and after his retirement he designed and rebuilt the cabin.
Malcolm was a man of great integrity and a lifelong learner who had many interests and talents. He published a book about his father, referencing the First World War and the Canadian pilots who enlisted in the RAF. More recently he co-authored a book about the Meek family farm in Ontario.
He possessed a dry sense of humour and was named a trickster by his granddaughter Sarah.
Malcolm and Barbara also travelled extensively and went on many cruises.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. at 1pm on Saturday November 3, 2018, with reception to follow in the adjoining room.
