God blessed us with a kind, generous and selfless mother for 96 years. The last 3-4 years have been very difficult for her as she suffered the indignities of aging and for us witnessing her decline. She could no longer enjoy the simple things like reading, doing crosswords, outings with family or friends, watching her favorite old movies & her beloved New York Yankees baseball team.
Mom had a very strong Catholic faith. In her younger years she joined the Catholic Women's league, taught kids prep, was a Eucharistic minister among many other duties. Family was most important to her. She relished dinners with us usually cooked & served by my steadfast brother Keith who was also her main care giver these last years. His son Jordan & niece Sarah often assisted.
Jacqueline (Jacki) was born in Quebec city and raised in Montreal. She was extremely devoted to her older sister Louise (deceased 1978), adored her father(deceased 1959) & mother(deceased 1971). She was a very good student, graduating from High school valedictorian. She attempted nursing school but soon realized this was not her calling so she worked in department stores, did some modeling and acting in summer theater productions. Her biggest wish was to have children. She married Dad in 1952 and proceeded to have 5 of us. We grew up in Ville St-Laurent, Quebec until we moved to Vancouver in 1969.
After being a stay at home Mom for as long as she could, she worked at several branches of the CIBC for many years. Once retired she spent much of her time doing various jobs for the church. As the family was expanding, she cherished our gatherings. In the future, her absence at these events will be deeply felt.
Left to miss her are her children: Debbie, Michael, Carol, Keith, daughter in law Joan. Grandchildren: Andrea(Scott), Sarah(Nigel), Nathan(Fah), Matthew, Jordan(his mom Brenda). Great grandchildren: Kara, Connor, Elizabeth, Xaniar, Atlas, cousin Louis(Julie) as well as friends. May she rest in peace knowing that she was truly loved.
