Our cherished Mom, Patty, Gramma passed away July 16th leaving her family with a legacy of love, support and wonderful memories.
Survived by her husband Edward Horembala, children, Michael (Nancy), Andrew (Jane) and Alison (Alex), grandkids, Jenna, Daniel and Kaitlynn and her sister Linda.
Born in Cincinnati, Patty spent her youth in Burlington, ON. The eldest of four children, Patty was very close with her late mother Gladys, brothers Gary and Ron (both deceased) and her sister Linda.
After meeting and marrying her lifelong sweetheart, Ed Horembala, Patty and Ed lived in London, Oakville and Orillia before moving to North Vancouver in 1975. Patty was instrumental in helping Ed run his busy law practice but always found a way to make her family her priority. After their children moved away for university and work, Patty and Ed relocated to Whitehorse, where they lived for 25 years before retiring and returning to North Vancouver to be close to their grandchildren.
Home was extremely important to Patty. Wherever she lived, she worked to make her home both welcoming and comfortable. Even a campsite would have that special touch.
Patty was always prepared and carried a solution for almost any situation in her purse. She was an incredible cook, accomplished fly-fisher and expressed her great creativity and attention to detail through sewing, quilting, painting and gardening.
Her true joy was family. Over the years she has taught all of us what steadfast support for one another looks like. Her husband, children, and grandchildren will remember her warm hugs and endless patience with so much love in our hearts for always.
During her time in Whitehorse, Patty spent many hours volunteering at the Yukon Child Development Centre, helping children to learn and grow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the centre would be very much appreciated, https://cdcyukon.ca/ .
