To Peters Family....Am so sad to hear the news of Peter...he was a man I respected all my career...we were students together at UBC and although we crossed paths only on occasion, my respect for him is and will remain very high.. a good, strong and passionate man and geologist...to all his family, Tom Richards

To Peter's family.
I am so sorry to hear about Peter. I worked with Peter when he was based out of Cominco's exploration lab in East Van. We used to have a regular Friday lunch, along with Gary Medford and MaryAnn ? After we both parted ways with the mother-ship, we would run into each other in various places, and have a catch-up meal or beer. A number of years ago, I had to fly to London, and got on the plane to find Peter sitting right next to me. On the next flight a few months later, on the way back from London, there was Peter, sitting right next to me again. What are the odds?  A truly decent person, gentleman, scholar, and always of good humor. He will be missed.

To the family of Peter:
I am so sorry to hear of Peter's passing.  He was a remarkable person, who influenced my life in such a positive way.  
I was fortunate enough to spend my first trip as a geologist "abroad" with Peter. I was quite nervous about traveling and going to work in a foreign country (South Africa), yet with Peter as my "boss" it was a wonderful experience.  I learned many things from Peter on that trip, most important of which was that exploration and geology is so much more than being a geologist.  I saw first hand how Peter met and interacted with the locals, and how he cared.  Peter also was interesteed in so much more than the "rocks".  While in South Africa we learned about the animals, the plants, the flowers, the climate and the people. I also learned how lucky I was to be Canadian and how much I took for granted all that I had.  The people of South Africa had so little (apartheid was just ending), yet were so pleasant and happy.  It is the only project to this day that I have been on where the drillers family and children were at site (they followed their husbands/fathers to their jobs).  The sound of small children laughing as I was logging core and processing samples is not something you normally hear in a field camp.
I have been spent a large portion of my career since that trip to South Africa (20 years ago) working on the community and environmental side of projects.  I enjoy spending time with the local community and getting to know them.  I am so glad I had Peter to show me how important that part of the "job" is. 
My thoughts are with all of you at this time.
