Richard Lawrence, loved husband, father, teammate, and friend, passed away suddenly at home on April 19, 2024 after a brief illness and leaves behind his loving family, wife of 45 years Donna, his son Jesse and his daughter Shannon.
Richard’s adventurous spirit took him on travels for work and exploration, across Canada, Europe, Russia, Norway and Japan, always bringing home stories and treasures for his family. He had many outdoor adventures canoeing, hunting, wandering, or driving whatever vehicle he had. He was an avid, lifelong hockey player and enthusiast, so enthralled he would frequently listen to multiple games at the same time.
Richard had a gentle soul, a playful sense of humour and a great appreciation of nature. He delighted in animals, and his happy pets over the years. He had a deep appreciation for all forms of creativity, be it a recipe, an old restored truck, music, nature photography, or a small handmade rooster made by a ten-year-old at the farmer’s market. He lived artfully and mindfully, sending care packages of treats and special items, decorating his family’s homes with hand carved bowls, building two log homes for his family and countless other projects he always had on go. Richard, dad, will be missed greatly and his spirit celebrated in our lives.
We will remember Richard’s extraordinary life on June 22 at 2 pm at the Boal Chapel in North Vancouver. For condolences and memories please see Boal Chapel’s website.
