June 22 1930 - Oct 8 2018
Theresa passed away peacefully at the Capilano Care Center, North Vancouver after a lengthy illness.
She was predeceased by her husband Emil, son George and granddaughter Lindsay. She is survived by her children Dan (Louise), Robert, Mark (Cathy) and Tatianna (Paul). She will fondly be remembered by grandchildren Leslie, Drew, Danielle (Craig), Leah (John), Kerry (Paul), Kristin, Matthew, Katelyn, Carson, Mark, Garrett, Haley, Carter, Theresa and Josephine and nine great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her partner, Rudy.
Theresa was born in the beautiful mountains of Bavaria and suffered many hardships as she came of age during the chaos of the Second World War. She married a war refugee from the Ukraine and they both came to Canada in 1953 seeking the opportunities which all immigrants yearn for. Born poor, Theresa was determined that her five children would not want for what they needed, and she saved as hard as she worked for 25 years as a switchboard operator in Saskatoon to make ends meet. She was a kind, generous and loving person. We will all miss her beautiful, contagious laughter and boundless energy. Theresa loved to walk and enjoy the outdoors. She was a great cook and loved to dance. She was devoted to her family and spent many marvelous celebrations with them. Theresa also had a passion for travel and there was nothing she liked more than to explore the world about her with her family at her side.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Capilano Care Center for their kindness and care during her residency there.
In keeping with Theresa’s wishes there will be no funeral but instead a celebration of her life which will be announced at a later date. The family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Society in Lieu of flowers
