

Violeta Sapon Canonizado, fondly called “Lily” by those lives whom she touched during her lifetime. Lily always tell her children: If you dream, dream as high as the sky so that when you fall you have the clouds to catch you. Her life journey was not an easy one, but she always had a positive outlook in every circumstances. Lily entered eternal life on November 30, 2020. Her spirit is carried on by her four children, Sonia, Larry, Braian and Isagani, eight grandchildren and six surviving siblings. She predeceased her 91-year-old mother.
Lily’s life was full of dreams and plans for her children and grandchildren. She left the Philippines to work overseas in Singapore and in Canada since her children were at young age. It was hard for her to be separated from them, but she did it to better support her children’s life and education. Now they have all grown and have a family of their own in the Philippines. She was always proud and supportive of their achievements and aspirations: self-taught farmers, technicians, an entrepreneur, and a lawyer. In Vancouver, Lily also helped take care of a child since the child was at young age. Leslie was only few years old when Lily came and now, she is all grown up and always had a special place in Lily’s heart.
She had many friends and was an active member of the Legion of Mary. She will be well remembered by her sounding laughs. No difficult time when you talk to her because she always has a positive side of the coin.
Despite her illness, Lily lived her life to the fullest, filled with laughter, love for her family and devotion to our Lord. Her love, hard work and sacrifices will never be forgotten and forever be
Lily will be given her last Church visit in Vancouver at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish, at 10 o’clock in the morning for final viewing of her family and friends in Canada after which a mass for her final repose will be conducted. Her remains will be repatriated to her birth land in the Philippines where she will be given the last respect by her family, relatives, and friends in the Philippines. She will be buried in Anao Cemetery and reunited with her husband who departed ahead of her more than a decade ago.
Her unconditional love will always be cherished by her children and grandchildren whom she dearly devoted her life.
