It is with profound sadness that the family of Bilan “Bill” Yee-Lap Mok announce his passing on June 22, 2020, at the age of 76. He left this world peacefully, with his family by his side. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife Fenny, his children Elain (Lorenzo), Tom (Kim), Eric (Natasha), Tim (Katie) and Olivia. His grandchildren Avery, Evan, Samantha, Braeden and Ryland, as well as his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, will miss him dearly.
Bill was a man without many wants, yet lived a full life. His greatest joys were his family, weekly table tennis matches with his old classmates, lunches with his siblings, and his many adventures with Fenny.
He was born on January 11, 1944 in Hong Kong and enjoyed his childhood with his numerous siblings. He joined the Hong Kong Police Force at the age of 20 and rose to the rank of Chief Inspector. Seeking a better life for his family, he departed Hong Kong and arrived in Toronto in 1974. He left his shield behind and worked at the Toronto Police headquarters in a civilian role for 21 years.
The second stage of his career took him back to his origins with an entrepreneurial spirit, where he started a successful manufacturing company in China. Bill officially retired in 2009 and returned to Toronto. Over the past 11 years, he has led a life of leisure, travel and endless planning for the next family outings that he so cherished.
Our family is extremely grateful to the numerous doctors and nurses that cared for him during his treatment and final days. Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to The Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation (Refer to the following link: Support.mshf.on.ca/bilanyeelapmok).
A visitation and funeral service will be held on June 29, 2020 at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St, North York. Unfortunately, due to city restrictions related to Covid-19, the visitation and funeral service is by invitation only.
