It is with great sadness that the family of Mae Jornada Young announces her passing after a brief battle with cancer, on Sunday May 31, 2020, at the age of 81 years. Mae was born in Manila, Philippines on May 2, 1939. She attended West Visayan Academy, then later received her college diploma from Philippine Union College in 1964. Mae immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1970, leading the way for other members of her family. She met her husband Ed Young at Pittsburg Paints and Glass (PPG), where she worked for 27 years before retiring in January 1998. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Mae was well loved by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generous spirit and love of life. We extend our sincere appreciation for the outpouring of condolences and support our family has received.
Mae is survived by her sisters, Deanna Jornada Campomanes (Ben), Linda De Leon (Al), Cora Jongco (Tony), and Norma Villanueva (Erol). She will be remembered lovingly by her aunts and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ed, parents Ebenezer Jornada and Felipa Caravana, brother Rudolfo Jornada and half sister Teresita Lunaria.
A private funeral service will be held in memory of Mae on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St., North York ON M2M 3W9.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
