

Barbara A. Strickland, age 60, of Moores Bridge, died July 11, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Moores Bridge Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Bonner and Pastor Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial
will follow in Moores Bridge Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ursula Dawson. Survivors include her husband, Harry Truman Strickland of Moores Bridge; her son, Chris of Tuscaloosa; her daughter, Vickie (David) of Northport; her parents, Jack and Rose Dawson of England; her sister,
Heidi of England; her brother, Gideon of England; and her grandchildren, Tori, Katie, and Allison. Barbara was a military spouse who accompanied her husband and family to North Dakota, South Carolina, England, Oklahoma, and Georgia.
She lived in Moores Bridge for the past 18 years. She loved flowers, gardening, bowling, and shopping. Everyone she encountered loved to hear her English accent. She lived for her family and, most recently, her grandkids. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, James Horton, Eddie Ellis, Scott White, Jamie Campbell, Alton Strickland, Phil Crim, and Phillip Oswalt.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ramdeen, Dr. Katona, Dr. Davis, the staff of MICU, members of Moores Bridge community,
Air Force friends, and Northside Lions Club. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Moores Bridge Cemetery Fund c/o Shelia Ellis.
