

Betty Ann Broughton of Coker, AL was born to Mamie Lou and Oliver Patton Montgomery of February 2, 1940. She married the love of her life Glen A. Broughton on December 1, 1955 and spent 61 years loving care and devotion to each other. Betty was a scrub tech in the operating room at DCH for many years, where she developed countless relationships with lifelong friends. She also worked at Bryce Hospital and the Tuscaloosa Surgical Center expanding her passion for helping others throught the Northport and Tuscaloosa areas. She would love to tell everyone of her glory days of softball state championships with the Taylors Ten and fish/ski trips to Lake Tuscaloosa. Her biggest fish to date was a 9 pound bass. Betty treasured fond memories of visiting the Alabama Gulf Coast and the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee throughout her life with close friends. She loved gospel music, with her favorite hymn being Amazing Grace. Her favorite foods included homemade ice cream and fried chicken. Among all these many loves in her life her pride and joy was her family.
Betty had two daughters, Glenda Phillips (Mike) and Felicia Broughton (Paul Burnette); four grandchildren, William Vining (Tracie), Jeff Vining (Jamie), Kyle Phillips (Lacey) and Amanda Phillips and ten great grandchildren of all whom later in her life changed her name forever to “Nana”, Odin, Bella, Alex, Mabry, Raylan, Levi, Weslin, James, Tucker and Boyd.
Betty Ann Broughton after fighting a long hard battle with dementia, passed over to Glory on November 10, 2017 at the Hunter Creek Rehabilitation center. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Serenity Chapel Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Payne officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Serenity Chapel Mausoleum and burial will follow in the Mausoleum with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider directing the services.
Betty Ann Broughton touched numerous lives in her 77 years on this Earth, and has now passed on her family heritage and loving legacy to those of she left behind. She will always be loved and remembered as she spends eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A special thanks to her loving sister and visiting companion Carolyn Mullinex who spent many hours with her at the twilight of her life.
