RALPH | Donald Mabry Johnston, age 79, of Ralph, died July 24, 2014, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Frankie Johnston and Darron Johnston; and brother, Franklin Johnston.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kircus Johnston; daughter, Jean Jacobs (Ray); sons, Allen Johnston (Debbie) and Joe Johnston (Stephanie); brother, Thomas Johnston; grandchildren, Kyle, Amanda, Daniel, Adam, Dillon, Landon, Savannah and Shyanne; and great-grandchildren, Brody and Lilah.
Donald was a giant of a man who could not be stopped. A hunter, a fisherman, and a man we call “Pop.”
Pallbearers will be Eddie Jacobs, Frank Marcum, Gerald Burns, Jeff Branham, Joe Armstrong, Junior Marcum and Roy Jacobs.
Honorary pallbearers are Winfred Strickland and John Warren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
