

Mrs. Edna Gentry McGee passed away March 21, 2026, two days before her 95th birthday, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside service will be at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Friday, March 27th at 2:00PM. The Rev. Randy Pate will officiate with burial in the church cemetery and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Marvin (M.D.) McGee; mother, Georgia Gentry Phelps, stepfather Edward T. Phelps; two brothers, Robert Gentry, Jr. (Myrtle), and Howard Gentry (Jeannie); three sisters, Edith Coe (Bill), Betty Stewart (Joe), and Ruby Smalley. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Henry P. (Sonny) Standridge and granddaughter Amanda Stand ridge Cameron.
Mrs. McGee is survived by her daughter, Freda Joyce McGee Standridge and son Robert Marvin (Bobby) McGee (Teresa); grandchildren Mark McGee, Johnny Standridge, Ben McGee (Sadie), and Adam McGee (Katie); and grandson-in-law David Justen Cameron, four great-grandchildren, Drew Standridge, Anthony Standridge, Jackson Daniel Cameron, and Emmy McGee. She is also survived by three step-granddaughters, Angela Standridge Mitchell (John), Dana Standridge Roberts (Chris), Robin Standridge, Nine step-great grandchildren, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Mother was known for her beautiful crochet work - from doilies to tablecloths. She made blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many babies in the community. She enjoyed going to church as long as her health would permit. She loved gardening and fishing in her lake and preparing meals for her family and any neighbors that happened to stop by.
She will be greatly missed but the love she shared will continue to live on in our memories forever.
