

Franklin Delano Hartley 91 of Northport born July 25, 1933, passed away peacefully at Hospice of West Alabama on September 16th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of life will be held on September 19th, 2024, at Carrols Creek Baptist Church, visitation will be at 1pm with service to follow at 2pm. Bro Chad Palmer will be officiating the service.
Del grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated at City High School. He enlisted in the armed forces of the United States of America on June 21st, 1956, and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1962. He then entered the business world, he owned and operated several businesses in the Fayette and Tuscaloosa area. He loved helping people and could tell you some awesome stories about his life and the people he loved.
He was known by DeeDee to his children, grandchildren, and great grands. He was loved by all of them and they definitely it. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. His passion was bluegrass music and playing his guitar and harmonica for the great grands. He loved singing and played and sang in a bluegrass band. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Carrols Creek Baptist Church and loved his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Hartley (Pete) and Ethel Shelby Hartley of Tuscaloosa, brothers Lee W Hartley of Tuscaloosa, Steven Willard Hartley (Nellie) of Huntsville, sisters Mary Louise Hall (Billy) of Northport, Clara Mae Glover of Satellite Beach Florida, parents in law Ludie Grafton Morrison and Mary Wynell Morrison of Fayette, sister-in-law Wanda Galloway (Joe) of Fayette. He is survived by his wife Judy Hartley of Northport, daughter Allison Smith (Larry) of Kennedy, sons Todd Hartley of Northport, Eric Holliman of Kennedy, Jeremy Holliman of Northport. Grandchildren Danyelle Dozier of Kennedy, Kelsey Gann (Blake) of Kennedy, Erica Bell (Logan) of Fayette, Garret Smith of Kennedy, Rylee and Jayna of Millport, and Andrew Holliman of Fayette. Great Grand Children Madison, Hayden, and Cohen Dozier of Kennedy, Browder and Ira Bell of Fayette. Sister in laws Wyonez Hartley and Wanda Hall and a host of nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by all, but we rejoice in knowing he is healed from dementia and pain free where he longed to be. He is now singing in that heavenly choir.
Pallbearers will be Garret Smith, Logan Bell, Blake Gann, Hayden Dozier, Browder Bell, Andrew Holliman, John Powell, Ralph Cabiness, Danny Posey, and Gary Hartley. Honorary pallbearers are the nurses on station 1 at Glenn Haven Nursing Home, Mr. Harold Whitt, and Mike Hogue.
