ELROD | George Douglas Montgomery, age 72, of Elrod, died October 15, 2015. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. George Shaddix officiating and Sunset Funeral home directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.P. and Mamie Hamner Montgomery; and brother, Gene Montgomery.
Survivors include son, Matthew Montgomery (Laura); sister, Carolyn Mullenix, Betty Brougton (Sonny) and Libby Crawford (Lillian); grandchildren, Jaclyn-Paige Caston and Jacob Caston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Tuscaloosa County, served in the military during the Vietnam War. He loved his family, his country, Alabama Football, Green Bay Packers, and Gordo Greenwave Sports.
Pallbearers will be Jason Mullenix, Nathan Mullenix, Evan Wood, John Evan Wood, Ridge Wood, David Crawford, Steven Crawford and John Mullenix.
Honorary pallbearers are Forest Manor Nursing Home staff and station one nurses and staff.
