James is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Judy Gray, and parents, James Roy Gray and Doris Nell Gray.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee (Billy)Tucker; son, Mike (Shannon) Gray; grandchildren, Tim (Brooke) Duckworth, Tyler Duckworth, Madden Gray and Waylon Gray; great-grandchildren, Boman Duckworth, and brother, Walter (Anne) Gray.
He was retired from North River Mines in Berry. During his spare time, he enjoyed drag racing on the weekends and driving his antique cars. He will be deeply missed.
A graveside service for James will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7100 Watermelon Rd, Northport, AL 35473 with Rev. Damon Rose officiating.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, Lewis Faye Manderson Cancer Center Staff, Dr. James Evans, his close friend, Robert (Nun) Long, and all of his drag racing friends.
