

Janice Howell, 90, of the Crichton area in Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her father, Christopher Shirley McDuffie; mother, Velma McDuffie, and her brothers, Joe McDuffie and Henry McDuffie along with her infant daughter.
Born on January 8, 1935, in Mobile, Alabama, Janice met the love of her life at the age of 18 and married him within three weeks of dating. They began their ministry at Indian Springs Church of God and later moved to Buhl, Alabama, where they pastored for 26 years before retiring. They were married for 70 years and 9 months, with her husband, David, often saying that God had told him she would be his wife. She found joy in traveling in their RV, spending summers at Fish River, and cherishing time with her family and grandchildren. She was a prayer warrior for her family, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and the cornerstone that held our family together.
Sister Howell is survived by her devoted husband, David Howell; her son, Jonathan (Butch), and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Howell; her grandson, Josh (Jamie) Howell; and her great-grandchildren, Anna Beth Howell, Lauren Howell, Katie Howell, and Jackson Howell; her granddaughter Brittney (Austin) Marcum; and her great-grandchildren Zac Marcum, Ethan Marcum and Livvy Marcum. She is also survived by her daughter, Carla Williams, and son-in-law, Gary Williams; her granddaughter, Christy (Tony) Smith; her great-grandson, Elijah Smith; her granddaughter, Shelly (Wayne) Ogle; and her great-grandchildren, Roman Ogle and Roxie Ogle. A visitation for Janice will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Northport Church of God, located at 2412 Lurleen B Wallace Blvd, Northport, AL 35476, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Elijah Smith, Hudson Fondren, Wayne Ogle, Roman Ogle, Elijah Perrigin, Austin Marcum, Tony Smith, and Billy Fondren.
