

Johnny Melvin Cork, age 79 of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away Nov. 2, 2010, at Baylor Heart & Vascular Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Romulus Methodist Church in Romulus, Al with Victor Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at Romulus Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Cork, in 1996, his parents Johnny and Ann Hester Cork Huckaby.
He is survived by his daughter and son- in-law, Kim Faulconer and Toby Kennedy of Whitesboro, TX; his son, Kenneth Cork of Garland, TX,; his grandson, Christopher and his wife Erica Faulconer of Oklahoma City,OK.;his granddaughters, Stephanie Faulconer of Stillwater, OK.;and Christina Cork of Richardson, TX.; and his great-grandson, Hunter Faulconer of Oklahoma City, OK.
He was born May 27, 1931 to Johnnie and Ann Hester Cork in Romulus, Al. He married the love of his life, Janie Dell Browning Cork, on Sept. 10, 1949. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved traveling anywhere, especially to NASCAR races. He had a passion for working on automobiles, which became his career after serving in the United States Army from 1946 to 1952 where he received his mechanical engineering degree. He worked as a mechanic for Johnson Chevrolet in Dallas, TX., where he was later promoted to shop foreman. When Johnson's closed he went to work as shop foreman for Lone Star Cadillac in Dallas, TX. and retired after Massey Cadillac bought out Lone Star. He loved woodworking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
