Julia Marie Whiting passed away on March 8,2023, at her home with here immediate family at her bedside. She now again is with her Mother, Ruth Oswalt Collins and her father, Thomas Wayburn Collins. Marie has been ill for almost a year and her husband, David Franklin Whiting, and her daughter, Cheryl Marie Whiting Johnson, took care of her so she could have one of her last wishes granted which was to live out her life in her home she and Frank had lived in for 52 years, since their wedding day.
Marie lived her life for her family. She found the love of her life in David Franklin Whiting and the best daughter ever in Cheryl Marie Whiting Johnson. Cheryl and Frank did everything possible for Marie in the last year of her life. This last year has been so difficult for the entire family but one giving respect to the mother and wife she has been to them.
Marie was born to Ruth Oswalt Collins and Thomas Wayburn Collins March 25,1947. She lives with her parents in Johnson Circle in Northport until she married. She attended Northport Elementary School, Lloyd Wood Junior High School, and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School. During high school, she worked a part-time job at the McCrory Village Shopping Center in Northport. McCrory's was then located where the Northport City Hall is now. After graduating from high school, she went to Birmingham to a business school and returned and went to work in the Tuscaloosa County Court House in the Tuscaloosa County Department of Human Resources. She retired from the Tuscaloosa County Human Resources in 1997.
Marie and Frank had one child, Cheryl Marie Whiting Johnson. She was the apple of their eyes.
Cheryl gave Marie and Frank two grandchildren, Rebecca ( Bec) and Gary ( Bubba). The old saying that you love your children but you love your grandchildren more was so true to Marie and Frank. Their lives revolved around their grandchildren.
Marie's survivors are her husband of 52 years David Franklin Whiting, her daughter Cheryl Marie Whiting Johnson, her grandchildren Rebecca (Bec) and Gary ( Bubba) and other family members.
Marie's family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Amedisys Hospice Home Health Care, Amedisys nurse Candice, Laura, and Lesley, Amedisys Chaplain, Amedisys Social Worker, Amedisys nursing assistants.
Sincere thanks go to the Northport Fire Department for the many times Northport Fire Department Station One came and assisted the family with Marie.
