LaJune Taylor Smalley

SAMANTHA | LaJune Taylor Smalley, age 80, of Samantha, died June 29, 2015, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home with Elder R. H. Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel Davis Smalley; and parents, Wiley and Zuma Taylor.Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Smalley Beasley (Lewis Errol Beasley) of Northport; sister, Ruth Taylor Sullivan of Northport; granddaughter, Jennifer Beasley Draper (Daniel Patrick Draper); and great-grandchildren, Brantley Alexander Hodo, Amanda Draper, Megan Draper, and Erin Draper.LaJure was born September 24, 1934 in Samantha. ""June"" was well known and loved throughout the community. She has a giving spirit and never turned down one in need whether it was cooking for an ill neighbor or helping a friend in their garden, June was always there. The world is a better place from her touch.Pallbearers will be Mitch Freeman, Todd Gilliam, Randall Freeman, Rodney Gilliam, Bobby Freeman, James Freeman, and Patrick Draper.Honorary pallbearers are members of Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church, Samantha community, and friends and family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church, St. Jude, or Hospice of West Alabama.
