Mary Ballard

NORTHPORT - Mary Estelle Ballard, age 79, of Northport, died January 18, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 2:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park. Elder Craig Blair will be officiating, and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial provider, will be directing. Friends and loved ones are welcome to arrive early to visit, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leonard Lancaster and Bessie Mae Lancaster and by her husband, Revis Donnell Ballard, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Foucher of Northport, Ala. and her son, Derrell Crimm (Terry) of Birmingham, Ala.; stepdaughters, Brenda McCracken (Gary) of Ralph, Ala., Darlene Nicholson (Skip) of Northport, Ala. and stepson, Don Ballard (Yvonne) of Greensboro, Ala.; brothers, Rex Kirk (Carol) of Gordo, Ala., and Bob Kirk (Joan) of Dade City, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mary will be remembered for her deep love for her family and church. She had a servant's heart and enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. She is also remembered fondly by so many whom she met during her many years working in the Bruno's bakery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremy Thrasher and Damon McGough, and her stepsons, Don Ballard, Gary McCracken and Skip Nicholson.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Tuscaloosa Primitive Baptist Church, former employees of Bruno's Supermarket, staff of Brookdale Senior Living, staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home, and the staff at Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
