

TUSCALOOSA | Maxine Rowe Duren, age 98, of Tuscaloosa, died October 26, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home with D.L. Fontenot officiating. Burial will follow in Jennings Chapel Meth CH Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Alvin Duren; parents, Jay and Willie Broom Rowe; as well four sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include, step-daughter, Nancy Duren of Santa Rosa, Calif.; brother, JW Rowe (Velvin) of Waldo, Ark.; nephews, Jay Rowe (Rhonda) of Siloam Springs, Ark., Charles Rowe of Bartlett, Ill.; Royce Reynolds (Faye) of Shula, Ga., Michael Reynolds (Debbie) of Lakeland, Ga., Barry Reynolds of Ill., Howard Reynolds, of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Kindred (Ginger) of Hysperia, Calif. and Tom Kindred of Mich.; nieces, Donna Buelon (Steve) of Hope, Ark., Jan Rowe of Columbia, Mio., Bernice Argeben (Irvin) of Redlands, Calif., Mary Eslobar (Al) of Mena Ark., Barbara Harrell of Ray City, Ga., Shelia Laris (Paul) of San Antonio, Texas, Sarah Odom (Jerry) of Nashville, Ga., Nancy McBride (Bill) of Dracula, Ga. and Debbie Harriss of Buford, Ga.; and a host of beloved grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Maxine Rowe Duren was born in 1916 in Minden, Louisiana, and moved to her family's home place in Emerson, Ark. the same year. After graduating from Emerson High School, Maxine moved to Redlands, Calif., where she worked in several jobs before joining Lockheed Aerospace in Silicon Valley. There she met her husband Richard. Upon retirement, they returned to his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Ala. They were devout members of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, and enjoyed a loving relationship in the community.
