She was the third child and the oldest daughter of eight children. Because her mother worked to support the family, Mildred took on much of the responsibility of raising her younger siblings. She married the love of her life, Lesley Sullivan, when she was 22. They were married for 57 years. She devoted her life to making a home for him and their children.
Mildred was a unique person, to say the least. She had strong opinions about many things and didn't hesitate to speak her mind- sometimes in "colorful language". Above all else, she was most passionate about her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved football, particularly Alabama football. She had two TVs in her den and another one nearby on her breakfast table. On any given Saturday during football season, she might have had three different ballgames on at the same time and sometimes even a fourth game on the radio. Her other favorite pastime was fishing with her husband before his health declined.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lesley, her parents Sam and Lola Hallman, her sister Marilyn Hallman, and her brothers, Stancil, Moody, Thad Jessie (T.J.), and Donald Hallman.
She will be remembered by her children , Sheila Foster (Steve) of Coaling, Alabama, and Gary Sullivan of Little Rock, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Benjamin Foster, Sam Foster (Sun-a), LeslieJo Sullivan, John Mark Sullivan, Jessica Sullivan and Luke Sullivan; two brothers, Hubert Hallman (Marie) and Curley Hallman (Tammy); and sister-in-law, Jean Hallman.
A private graveside service will be held February 27, 2021. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
