

Funeral services will be at Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, with Scott Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 6-8 PM.
Phillip was born March 15, 1958, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Howard “Slim” Sullivan and Tillie Dunkling Sullivan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie Sullivan and son, Michael Mayo.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Mayo of Moundsville, West Virginia; sister, Linda Nicholas and brother-in-law Rodney Nicholas, of Macon, Mississippi; nieces, Amanda (Joe) Jones of Macon, Mississippi and Morgan (Tyler) Collier of Tupelo, Mississippi; three grandchildren, two great nephews and one great niece (that he also claimed as his grandchildren), and a host of other family members, and friends.
Phillip loved his family and friends, Alabama football, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the river. He was often outspoken but had a big heart and was always willing to help others in need.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Nicholas, Joe Jones, Tyler Collier, Ricky Dunkling, Tim Skelton, and Drake Mansfield.
