NORTHPORT – Richard Doyle Burns, age 58, of Northport, died January 13, 2016, at home. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Hoggle (Michael) of Berry, Ala.; sons, Ricky Burns of Northport, Ala. and Jeffery Burns of Cottondale, Ala.; sister, Margaret Burns of Northport, Ala.; brothers, Mike Burns (Brenda) and David Burns, both of Northport, Ala.; grandchildren, Devin Burns (Morgan), Damon and Kierstyn Hoggle and Haven, Gabe, Jeffery Jr. and Xavier Burns; and great-grandchildren, Aubree and Anslee Burns. Richard was a hardworking man, devoted father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, working in the garden and loved Alabama football. Pallbearers will be Devin Burns, Damon Hoggle, Bubba Hoggle, Michael Hoggle, Clayton Lynn and Josh Burns. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Beth Western, Dr. Jeanne Lipbscomb, Dr. S. Sundar, Black Warrior Roofing, Pine Hill Road Community and Journey Hospice.
